The Khorezm People's Soviet Republic was a short-lived Soviet client state carved out of the former Khanate of Khiva in 1920, and its paper currency reflects the chaotic monetary conditions of early Central Asian Sovietization. By 1922, the republic was already being absorbed into the broader Soviet structure — it would be formally liquidated in 1923 — so this issue belongs to the final phase of an entity that existed for barely three years.

Local printing under these conditions was rudimentary, and Khorezm notes from this period are known for inconsistent ink coverage and thin stock. Survival rates are low simply because so few were produced and the region saw little archival preservation.
