Aversbeschreibung At center, the state emblem of Ajman is depicted within the field. The Arabic numeral '٢٥' appears above the emblem, flanked by the bilingual legend 'حُكُومَة عجمَان وَتوابعُهَا' (Government of Ajman and Its Dependencies) arcing across the upper portion in Arabic, with the English equivalent 'GOVERNMENT OF AJMAN & ITS DEP' running along the lower periphery. Below the emblem is a forward-facing portrait effigy of Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi. The design is enclosed within a beaded border.

Reversbeschreibung Central motif depicts two standing male figures, rendered in relief, each gripping a horizontal rod attached to the base of a large crowned bell mounted on a central post, as if ringing it in unison. The legend 'SAVE VENICE' arcs boldly around the upper periphery within a beaded border. The denomination '25 RIYALS' is inscribed in large numerals and lettering across the lower field. A small engraver's initial 'S' is visible near the lower right rim.

Zusätzliche Informationen

The "Save Venice" campaign was launched by UNESCO in 1969 following catastrophic flooding in November 1966, when the Adriatic surge raised water levels over 1.9 meters and damaged thousands of artworks and historic structures across the city. Ajman, one of the smallest of the Trucial States, issued this gold piece in 1971 — the same year it joined the newly formed United Arab Emirates — as part of a broader wave of commemorative coinage produced by the Gulf sheikhdoms primarily for the international collector market rather than domestic circulation.

Ajman's issues from this period were handled largely through foreign coin dealers and rarely, if ever, passed through local hands as currency.
