| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse features a stylized ancient Egyptian winged scarab beetle displayed at the lower centre of the field, its outstretched wings framing the central inscriptions. The denomination '25' in large Eastern Arabic numerals occupies the centre, with the word 'Qirsh' in Arabic script below. The country name 'Republic of Egypt' appears in curved Arabic legend along the upper periphery, while the dual dates '1375-1956' in Arabic numerals are inscribed beneath the denomination. The design is framed by a reeded border with an inner decorative chain motif. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Egypt struck this coin to commemorate Nasser's nationalization of the Suez Canal Company on July 26, 1956 — a move that triggered the subsequent invasion by British, French, and Israeli forces in October. The nationalization was framed domestically as reclaiming the canal's revenues to fund the Aswan High Dam after the United States and Britain withdrew their financing offer. This piece is one of the earliest Egyptian commemoratives issued by the Republic following the 1952 revolution, and its production predates the military crisis by only months.
