| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse design features the Hawk of Quraish, the coat of arms of Syria, displayed as the central motif with a shield on its breast bearing three green stars. The hawk's wings are spread and it grasps a scroll in its talons inscribed with the name of the Syrian Arab Republic in Arabic. The Gregorian year appears to the lower left and the Hijri year to the lower right, both rendered in Arabic-Indic numerals below the central emblem. |

Syria's 1968 coinage program was produced under the Ba'athist government that had consolidated power following the 1963 coup, with pattern issues from this period serving internal evaluation purposes rather than public release. Gold patterns of this denomination were never approved for circulation, and surviving examples almost certainly originate from the Syrian mint's official archives or were retained by mint personnel — formal public auction appearances remain exceptionally rare.
