| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central design depicts the Tabqa Dam (al-Thawra Dam) spanning the Euphrates River, rendered in detailed relief. The dam motif is enclosed within a decorative circle formed by a half cogwheel at the base and an oat sprig on the opposing side, symbolising industry and agriculture in reference to the FAO theme. The surrounding legend in Arabic identifies the issuing state, the denomination, the dam, and the FAO motto for increased world food production. |

Issued as part of the FAO's coordinated global coin program, which enlisted dozens of national mints throughout the 1970s to produce commemorative circulation pieces promoting food security and agricultural development. Syria's participation reflected Ba'athist agricultural policy rhetoric of the period — land reform had been a central plank of the party since the 1963 coup, though results on the ground remained deeply uneven.
