Issued to mark the 125th anniversary of Churchill's birth, this Alderney piece carries particular weight given the island's history — Alderney was entirely evacuated in June 1940 and subsequently occupied by German forces for nearly five years, making it the only British territory to suffer that fate during the war Churchill led. The island's civilian population didn't fully return until 1945.
