Issued to mark the Golden Jubilee of Elizabeth II's accession, this Jersey gold piece was part of a coordinated Commonwealth-wide commemorative program in 2002. Jersey, as a Crown Dependency rather than a Commonwealth realm, occupies an unusual constitutional position — the island owes allegiance directly to the Crown, not to the British Parliament, a distinction that made participation in jubilee coinage more a matter of tradition than obligation.
The title "The Work Continues" echoed the phrase Elizabeth II used in her 1977 Silver Jubilee address, a deliberate callback that framed fifty years of reign as ongoing rather than ceremonial.
