The shield is quartered with the three passant guardant lions of England in the first and fourth quarters, the rampant lion within a double tressure flory-counterflory of Scotland in the second, and a harp for Ireland in the third, surmounted by St Edward's Crown. Tudor roses adorn the background field, while the East India Company mintmark EIC, with letters separated by radiating arrows, appears twice within the rim at left and right.
