Additional information

The Seymour Panther was one of the Queen's Beasts — a heraldic menagerie drawn from the supporters used at Elizabeth II's 1953 coronation. The panther itself derives from the badge of Jane Seymour, third wife of Henry VIII, though the specific form used in royal heraldry owes more to Tudor decorative convention than to any single historical document. This 2022 piece appeared during the final months of Elizabeth II's reign; she died in September of that year, making late issues in this series among the last gold struck under her authority by the Royal Mint.
