| Aversbeschreibung | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the Diamond Diadem Crown, with drop earring and pearl necklace visible, rendered in fine relief against a mirror-polished field. The portrait, characteristic of the Jody Clark effigy used on later Alderney issues, displays finely detailed hair and regal bearing. The circular legend arcs around the periphery, interrupted by beaded inner border. The date 2021 appears in the lower exergue. |

| Reversbeschreibung | A lone World War I soldier stands solemnly in a grove of bare trees, his silhouette evoking remembrance and mourning. To the left, a cluster of vibrant red poppies rendered in applied color provides a powerful symbolic contrast to the otherwise silver field, referencing the iconic symbol of WWI commemoration. The denomination appears in the upper portion of the design, while a commemorative inscription arcs across the lower register. The overall composition is deeply emotive and executed in a painterly, illustrative style befitting its memorial subject. |

Alderney occupied a peculiar position in the First World War — the island was not evacuated as it would be in 1940, and its small population contributed men to the mainland forces at a rate proportionally comparable to any English county. The Royal Mint produced this issue under the Alderney licensing arrangement, whereby the Crown Dependency lends its nominal issuing authority to commemorative programs that would otherwise have no distinct territorial identity.
At 155.6 grams, this is a five-ounce format — a size that became near-ubiquitous in British commemorative silver programs of the 2010s and 2020s.
