Additional information

HMS Revenge was the lead ship of her class of battleships, commissioned in 1916 and present at the Battle of Jutland just months later — though her contribution to that engagement was limited by the fleet's positioning. Her more consequential moment came in 1940, when she escorted convoys in the North Atlantic during the period before American entry made such operations a matter of survival for Britain. The ship was scrapped in 1948, a mundane end to a long career that spanned two world wars.
