Aanvullende informatie

The Falcon of the Plantagenets is the sixth beast in the Queen's Beasts series, a ten-coin program launched by the Royal Mint in 2016 to coincide with Elizabeth II's 90th birthday. The heraldic falcon traces directly to Edward III, who used it as a personal badge, and it remained prominent through the Yorkist kings — Richard II had falcons embroidered on his robes at the time of his deposition in 1399.

The series drew its source material from the ten sculpted beasts that flanked the Queen's ceremonial canopy at her 1953 Coronation, themselves recreated from historic royal heraldic supporters by sculptor James Woodford.
