Beschrijving keerzijde Central effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in right-facing profile, wearing the St. Edward's Crown as used at the 1953 Coronation, set against a highly polished proof field. The portrait is rendered in fine relief with intricate detailing of the Crown's arches, ornamentation, and velvet lining. Surrounding legends commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Coronation, with the denomination TWENTY FIVE POUNDS inscribed along the lower arc. The numerals 65 and the date range 1953/2018 appear within the design, reinforcing the commemorative theme.

Aanvullende informatie

Alderney, the smallest of the three main Channel Islands with its own coinage rights, has issued commemorative pieces under its name since 1993 — though all are produced by the Royal Mint and have no genuine circulation function on the island. This 2018 issue marks the 65th anniversary of the June 1953 Coronation, Elizabeth II having been crowned at Westminster Abbey following a 16-month mourning period after George VI's death in February 1952.

The 65th is a sapphire anniversary, the same designation applied to Elizabeth II's sapphire jubilee of 2017 — the first British monarch to reach that milestone.
