In the upper-left quarter, the Welsh Red Dragon rears with wings spread; in the upper-right, the English Lion passant guardant leaps with raised paw; in the lower-left, the Scottish Unicorn rears with chained neck; and in the lower-right, the Irish Harp-playing figure or stag is depicted in vigorous relief. The engraver's initials GKC appear adjacent to the central crown motif. A repeated circular legend around the periphery reads 1/4 OZ FINE GOLD 999.9 2024, inscribed multiple times around the border of the finely textured field. |

The Four Nations series draws on a heraldic tradition that predates the Union itself — the quartered arms of England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales have appeared in various configurations on British coinage since the Tudor period, though Wales has historically been the awkward inclusion, its representation never fully standardized. This 2024 issue arrives during a reign still in its infancy, with the Mint navigating the considerable logistical challenge of updating virtually every circulating and bullion denomination simultaneously following the September 2022 accession.
