Obverse description Uncrowned effigy of King Charles III facing left, rendered in high relief after the portrait by Martin Jennings, with fine detailing of the hair and facial features. The circumferential legend reads CHARLES III · D · G · REX · F · D · 25 POUNDS, with the date 2025 positioned at the lower portion of the periphery. The engraver's initials MJ appear discreetly at the truncation of the bust. The plain, mirror-polished field provides strong contrast typical of proof coinage.

Additional information

The Queen's Beasts series concluded under Elizabeth II, but the Panther — drawn from the heraldic supporters of Jane Seymour, third wife of Henry VIII — returned here as part of the Tudor Beasts continuation series launched under Charles III. The specific beast references the black panther of the Seymour family, which appeared on royal heraldry during the brief years Jane Seymour was queen consort before her death in 1537, just days after the birth of the future Edward VI.

The .9999 fineness distinguishes this from earlier Queen's Beasts issues, which were struck to .9167.
