| 裏面の説明 | The reverse presents a detailed panoramic view of the Prophet's Mosque (Al-Masjid an-Nabawi) in Medina, rendered with fine engraving showing the distinctive green dome, minarets, and arcaded walls. Rising above the mosque facade on an ornate double-stemmed standard are two circular medallions: the right bearing the name of Allah (الله) and the left bearing the name of the Prophet Muhammad (محمد), both inscribed in Arabic within decorative cartouches. An Arabic inscription arcs across the upper field. The composition celebrates the dawn of the 15th century of the Islamic Hijri calendar. |

Issued to mark the beginning of the 15th Islamic century — 1400 AH fell in November 1979 — this aluminium essai was part of a broader series of pattern strikes produced for the occasion rather than for circulation. Sudan's coin program in this period relied heavily on outside minting houses, and essais like this one were typically submitted for approval or struck in limited numbers as presentation pieces. The aluminium composition confirms its trial nature; no circulating denomination of this type was produced in this metal.
