备注

Rees, a small town on the Lower Rhine in the Rhineland, issued this note as part of the massive Notgeld wave of 1919, when municipal and local authorities across Germany printed their own emergency small-change scrip to compensate for the chronic shortage of official coinage. The Reich had been unable to keep pace with demand, and towns like Rees had little choice but to fill the gap themselves.

These Lower Rhine issues were typically printed in short runs by local printers and redeemed within months — survival rates vary considerably, with some issues proving surprisingly elusive despite their humble origins.
