| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse is printed in black and green on cream paper within a single-rule border. A large central vignette in bold woodcut style depicts a rural village scene with half-timbered farmhouses nestled between two densely wooded hills rendered with stylised triangular tree forms. Above the vignette, a decorative band of ornamental Fraktur-style lettering spells the denomination, centred on a star or sun motif identical to the municipal device on the obverse, flanked by repeating green foliate and key-shaped ornamental elements. The denomination 25 PF appears in large numerals at both lower corners, with the artist's initials W. and D. visible at either side of the upper decorative band. |

Ellerhoop is a village in Holstein with a population that would not have filled a modest church — which makes its 1921 notgeld issue entirely characteristic of the period. Following the postwar coin shortage, thousands of German municipalities, however small, printed their own emergency small change, and Gemeinde Ellerhoop was no exception. The Amtsbezirk Bevern administrative designation places this firmly in the Schleswig-Holstein rural bureaucratic structure that authorized such issues at the parish level.
Survivorship is high for most Schleswig-Holstein notgeld of this type — collectors absorbed enormous quantities directly from issuing offices before the notes ever circulated.
