| Reverse description | Oriented vertically, the reverse is centred on an oval vignette of the Münchener Tor (Munich Gate) of Moosburg rendered in fine engraving, showing the medieval gate tower with its stepped gable, an arched stone passage at ground level, flanking whitewashed wings, and a painted saint's figure on the tower facade. The oval is framed by elaborate Baroque scrollwork with foliate corner ornaments and a rocaille cartouche at the base bearing the inscription 'Münchenertor' in Gothic Fraktur. The artist's signature appears at the lower right of the vignette. |

Moosburg an der Isar was among hundreds of small Bavarian municipalities forced into emergency currency production during the early 1920s as chronic coin shortages — exacerbated by postwar metal requisitioning and rampant hoarding — left local commerce effectively paralyzed. These Notgeld issues were a municipal fix to a national failure, authorized locally and spent locally, rarely traveling far from the town that printed them.
Pichlmayr was a Moosburg printer, not a specialist currency house, which is exactly the point — this note was made with whatever the town had available. The Ballmayer design and Gerlspeck signature are purely local details, untraceable through any major registry.
