Descripción del anverso Dark green and ochre-yellow notgeld printed in a woodcut-style artistic technique. The denomination numerals "25" and "Pfg" appear in large ochre script at upper left and upper right respectively, against the dark green ground. A central vignette rendered in the Expressionist woodcut manner shows two peasant women gleaning hay beside a large sheaf, set within a fan-shaped composition formed by two diagonal ribbon banners. The upper banner carries a Low German dialect proverb in cursive script. Below the vignette, a lower ribbon panel bears the issuing authority inscription in Gothic lettering, followed by five facsimile signatures of city council members. The artist's name "RICHARD ZSCHEKOD" appears at lower right.

Descripción del reverso Dark green and ochre-yellow reverse in matching woodcut style. The note is framed by an elaborate quatrefoil-shaped ochre border. A central circular vignette presents a detailed view of the Reuter-Gefängnis (Reuter Prison), the historic building in Dömitz where the poet Fritz Reuter was incarcerated, captioned in cursive script below the image. Flanking the central medallion, the denomination "25 Pfg" is repeated in large Gothic numerals on both left and right. The curved heading "Reutergeld der Stadt" arches above the vignette in bold Gothic script, while "Dömitz a/M" is inscribed in large Gothic lettering across the lower portion. The artist's split credit "RICHARD" and "ZSCHEKOD" appears at lower left and lower right respectively.

Dömitz notgeld from 1921 sits squarely in the second wave of German municipal emergency currency — issued not because coins were unavailable, as in the 1917–1919 shortage, but because local councils had discovered that attractively designed small notes sold briskly to collectors and generated modest revenue for cash-strapped municipalities. By 1921 the practice was openly commercial rather than genuinely emergency-driven, and the Reich was actively moving to suppress it.

Richard Zschekod designed for several northern German notgeld series during this period. The reference number suggests this is one of at least two design variants within the 278 series for Dömitz.
