| Opmerkingen |
Oberammergau's notgeld issues of 1921 sit within a well-documented wave of Bavarian municipal emergency currency, but this particular Gemeinde's series attracted collector attention almost immediately upon issue — largely because of Brendamour, Simhart & Co., a Munich lithographic house with a strong reputation for decorative quality work. The firm produced illustrated notgeld for numerous Bavarian towns during the 1920–1922 period, and their output was actively targeted by the Sammler market while still nominally in circulation.
The overprint security feature on this denomination was a hedge against counterfeiting and unauthorized reproduction — a real concern given how aggressively notgeld was being collected and, in some cases, replicated.
