Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse is printed in green and red on cream paper, with a bold green ornamental border incorporating the denomination "25 Pfg." repeated in the four corners. A large red rectangular central panel bears the town name "Schobüll" in bold gothic script above the denomination "25 Pfg.", followed by a validity text referencing the local ordinance of 1 June 1921, and the issuing authority line "Der Gemeindevorsteher" above a manuscript signature. Large blue numeral "25" underprints appear to the left and right of the central panel.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse is printed in dark brown and green on cream paper, sharing the same green ornamental border with denomination numerals in the corners. The central vignette, rendered in a woodcut-style technique, presents a coastal scene with harbour seals: a large seal resting on a sandbank dominates the upper portion against a rising or setting sun rendered with radiating lines, while three additional seals are shown at the water's edge in the lower portion, evoking the tidal mudflats of the North Frisian coast near Schobüll.

Opmerkingen

Schobüll is a coastal village in Nordfriesland with a population that was, even in 1921, numbering in the hundreds. That such a small municipality issued its own emergency paper money is less surprising than it sounds — the Notgeld phenomenon of 1920–1922 swept through tens of thousands of German towns and villages, many issuing notes more as collectible souvenirs than as functional currency. Collectors were actively mailing requests to municipalities, and some small issuers printed far more than local commerce could ever absorb.

Whether Schobüll's issue served genuine transactional need or was primarily a Serienschein aimed at the collector market is the more interesting question here.
