Bleicherode is a small mining town in Thuringia, and its 1921 notgeld issue belongs to the second wave of municipal emergency currency — not the chaotic wartime scrip of 1914–18, but the inflationary stopgap period when Reichsbank small-denomination coins had effectively vanished from circulation. Carl Flemming & Wiskott in Glogau were a prolific commercial printer for these municipal issues, which meant consistent production quality but little that distinguished one town's output from another's.
