| 裏面の説明 | The reverse carries a panoramic vignette of the Uerdingen waterfront on the Rhine, with river craft including a steam vessel and sailing boats in the foreground and the town's church spire rising above tree-lined banks in the background. Superimposed at centre is the polychrome municipal coat of arms of Uerdingen, divided horizontally in teal and red with a double-barred cross in white, above which a curved motto ribbon bears the Low Rhenish dialect legend 'MER HALDE TESAME!'. The top border inscription reads 'STADT UERDINGEN A. RHEIN.' in bold Roman capitals, numeral '25' cartouches occupy all four corners, and the printer's imprint 'Schleicher & Schüll Düren' appears at lower right. |

Uerdingen am Rhein issued this note during the acute small-change shortage that gripped Germany in the early 1920s, when coin metal was being hoarded and the Reichsbank could not keep fractional currency in circulation. Municipal Notgeld of this type — authorized at the city level, not by any central banking authority — was a practical workaround, and hundreds of German towns did exactly the same thing between 1919 and 1922.
Schleicher & Schüll, better known as a specialist paper manufacturer in Düren, also operated a printing division that handled a substantial volume of regional Notgeld contracts during this period.
