Obverse description Central device features the Imperial German eagle displayed, with wings spread and head turned to the right, bearing a shield on its breast. The eagle is rendered in a bold, sculptural style with fine feather detail throughout the wings and body. The mint mark 'A' appears at the lower left of the field. The circular legend 'DEUTSCHES REICH' arcs across the upper portion of the coin, with the date '1909' continuing along the right side.
