Obverse description Central design features the Imperial German crown rendered in high relief, depicted frontally and resting upon a draped support flanked by flowing ribbons or mantling to either side. The date 1908 appears within a recessed rectangular panel above the crown, framed by a beaded border. Below the crown, a small sprig of oak or laurel leaves flanks the mint mark 'A' in the lower field. The entire composition is enclosed within a raised rim with beaded inner border, giving the design a distinctly architectural, cartouche-like quality typical of German pattern issues of the Wilhelmine era.
