Obverse description The obverse features the Imperial German eagle displayed, with spread wings and head turned to the right, bearing a shield on its breast decorated with the Hohenzollern arms. The eagle is surmounted by an Imperial crown and flanked by elaborate oak-leaf and scroll ornamentation. The mint mark 'A' appears below the eagle at the base of the design. The overall composition is rendered in a bold, high-relief Wilhelmine style typical of Berlin Mint pattern coinage of the period.
