Opmerkingen

Suhl had been a center of German arms manufacturing since the sixteenth century, and the town's Magistrat leaned into that identity when commissioning this Notgeld series. The designer, K. Mundt, was a local — an unusual choice at a time when many municipalities simply contracted the whole job to the printer. That decision likely accounts for the specificity of the weapons imagery, which reflects genuine local knowledge rather than generic civic decoration.

Adolf Forker of Leipzig handled the printing, a firm that processed enormous volumes of municipal emergency currency during the inflation years. The Hertwig signature denotes a Magistrat official, not a bank functionary — Suhl had no issuing bank of its own at the time.
