Beschrijving voorzijde The left half of the note is printed on a dark background and carries a central vignette of a farmer ploughing a field with two horses, rendered in fine letterpress engraving within a scalloped cartouche, with the numeral 25 below it and a four-line patriotic verse in a ruled text panel beneath. The right half, printed in teal and black, bears the large denomination numerals '25' and 'Pfennig' in bold Gothic type at the top, followed by the issuer's name in a contrasting teal band, an obligation clause in letterpress text, the place and date of issue, and three manuscript signatures of the Vorstand (board members) identified as Vorsitzender, Schriftführer, and Kassierer. A decorative border of stylised foliate motifs frames the entire note.

Opmerkingen

The Verein für Handel und Gewerbe — a local trade and commerce association — issued this 25 Pfennig note during the acute small-change shortage that gripped Germany in the early Weimar period. Municipal and commercial bodies across the Rhineland filled the gap left by hoarded metal coinage, and J. Lintz of Trier was a reliable regional printer who produced notgeld for numerous nearby communities during this window.

Schweich, a small wine-trade town on the Moselle, was at the time under French occupation following the Treaty of Versailles. Whether that occupation complicated or simply ignored this local scrip issue is unrecorded.
