背面描述 A detailed pictorial view of the Röder Tor (Röder Gate), a prominent medieval tower gateway of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, occupies the full field. The composition depicts the arched gateway passage flanked by characteristic half-timbered structures and flanking towers, with a figure visible near the base lending a sense of scale. The inscription 'Röder- Tor' appears in Fraktur blackletter script in the upper left field. The scene is rendered in fine relief with strong architectural detail, consistent with the artistic style common to German Notgeld issues of the early 1920s.

附加信息

Rothenburg's Röder Tor notgeld was issued during the inflationary chaos of 1921, when German municipal and commercial bodies flooded the market with emergency coinage to compensate for the chronic shortage of small-denomination Reichsmünzen. Rothenburg was unusually prolific in this regard, producing numerous iron and zinc pieces across multiple denominations — partly out of necessity, partly because the town had already identified tourism as an economic engine and notgeld carried promotional value as collectibles.

Iron was the material of last resort, prone to corrosion in circulation. Uncorroded survivors in any condition are the ones worth examining closely.
