Leuchtenburg-Wirtschaft was the catering and tourism concession operating at Leuchtenburg castle above Kahla — one of the better-preserved hilltop fortresses in Thuringia — and this 25 Pfennig note is a piece of emergency small change issued by a hospitality business rather than any banking or municipal authority. During the acute coin shortage of the early Weimar inflation period, it was entirely legal for private commercial operators to issue such Notgeld, and many did exactly that.

J. P. Himmer in Augsburg was a prolific printer of regional Notgeld issues across southern and central Germany. Georg Thage's signature identifies the responsible signatory for the concession at the time of issue.
