Kreissparkasse Herzberg issued this note under the authority of Kreis Schweinitz, one of the administrative districts in the Prussian Province of Saxony that produced a torrent of small-denomination Notgeld during the 1920–1922 emergency currency period. The absence of a date is not unusual for issues at this level — many district savings banks simply omitted it, relying on serial control rather than date coding to manage redemption.
At 45 × 36 mm, this is among the smallest paper Notgeld produced anywhere in Germany.
