The Kreis-Handwerkerbund — a district-level artisans' trade association — was among the thousands of municipal and commercial bodies forced into emergency currency issuance during the Weimar inflation crisis. By 1921, chronic small-coin shortages had made everyday transactions genuinely dysfunctional, and organizations with no banking mandate whatsoever found themselves printing Notgeld simply to allow their members to conduct local commerce. Stolzenau an der Weser was a small market town; the circulation radius for notes like this would have been effectively the immediate district.
The Grabowski reference numbers 1277.1-2/12 suggest at least two varieties exist within this type — likely differing in serial placement, printer detail, or paper stock rather than denomination text.
