| 背面描述 | Pearl border runs along the entire rim. The large denomination numeral '25' dominates the central field in bold raised relief. The circular legend 'KRIEGSGELD 1917' arcs across the upper portion of the field, while 'PFENNIG' is inscribed along the lower arc, flanked by small star ornaments at either side. The overall design is plain and utilitarian, characteristic of World War I German emergency coinage. |

Haan's 1917 emergency coinage was part of the broader German Notgeld response to wartime metal shortages, as nickel and copper were diverted wholesale to military production. Municipal authorities across the Reich were left to improvise, issuing locally sanctioned substitutes of wildly varying quality. Zinc was the unsentimental solution for dozens of small Westphalian towns.
The nickel-plated variant catalogued under Funck#182.1 suggests the city made at least two production runs or surface treatments — a small distinction that collectors of German civic emergency issues track closely.
