| Beschrijving keerzijde | An outer pearl border encircles the entire reverse, within which the legend 'KLEINGELDERSATZMARKE' ('small change substitute token') runs in a continuous arc around the upper and lateral field. A rope or toothed inner circle encloses the central field, where the large numeral '25' denoting the denomination is boldly struck in the center. Three small five-pointed stars are arranged at the base of the inner field, between the rope border and the outer legend, serving as decorative stops. |

Greifswald's 1917 notgeld issue belongs to the first wave of German municipal emergency coinage, driven by the wartime disappearance of small change as civilians hoarded metal and the imperial government diverted copper and nickel to munitions. Zinc was the compromise — cheap, available, deeply unpopular in circulation because it corroded rapidly in pocket moisture and wore the dies unevenly.
The Funck 172.2 designation indicates a recognized die variant within the series, distinguishing it from the .1 emission.
