正面描述 The obverse is text-dominated, with a central panel bearing an extended passage in Gothic Kurrent script from Goethe's epic poem Hermann und Dorothea, Canto 3 (Euterpe: Mutter und Sohn), set against red horizontal rule lines. Flanking the text panel are two letterpress vignettes of half-timbered townhouses, each captioned with small labels. The denomination '25 Pf.' appears in bold red numerals at the lower left and right corners, while the lower margin carries the issuing authority inscription, date 'Pößneck, den 31. Juli 1921,' and two facsimile signatures.

备注

Pößneck issued this third installment of its Goethe-themed Notgeld series in 1921, during the period of acute coin shortages that drove hundreds of German municipalities to produce their own small-denomination emergency paper. The Johannes Arndt press in Jena was a regional workhorse for Thuringian Notgeld commissions during this period, handling output for multiple surrounding towns simultaneously.

Pößneck's choice to anchor its series around Goethe was commercially savvy as much as cultural — collector demand for thematically coherent Notgeld sets was already driving deliberate overprinting by 1921, and a named series guaranteed secondary market interest well beyond local circulation.
