| 正面描述 | The obverse features the heraldic shield of Coblenz (Koblenz) at center, displaying a mural crown above horizontal lines on the lower half of the shield, rendered in relief against the flat field. The city name COBLENZ appears as a legend above the shield. Surrounding the shield, the circular legend reads GÜLTIG BIS 1 JAHR NACH FRIEDENSSCHLUSS (valid until 1 year after the peace treaty), running from the lower left to the lower right along the coin's rim. The design is plain and functional, characteristic of wartime Notgeld emergency coinage. |

Koblenz issued this iron notgeld piece in 1918 as the imperial coinage system effectively collapsed under wartime metal requisitioning — copper, nickel, and zinc had been diverted to munitions production for years, forcing municipalities across Germany to improvise emergency issues in whatever base materials remained available. Iron was a poor substitute, prone to corrosion, which accounts for the difficulty in finding surviving examples without significant surface degradation.
