| Reverse description | The heraldic bear of Aachen, the city's traditional symbol, is depicted in a seated, upright posture at the center of the field, resting upon a decorative plinth or shield base. The bear wears a collar and is rendered with considerable sculptural detail, including textured fur and alert facial features. The entire central device is surrounded by a continuous border of incuse triangular or notched geometric ornaments encircling the rim, adding a decorative frame to the design. The reverse bears no legend or inscription. |
