| Obverse description | The upper register is centred on a vignette of a hen perched atop a rocky mound, enclosed within a laurel wreath bearing the communal legend 'Gemeinde Schmiedefeld', flanked on either side by rendered laboratory glassware and scientific instruments — flasks, burettes, and thermometers — alluding to the locality's glass-industry heritage. The lower register is divided into three panels in Fraktur letterpress: the outer left and right panels carry the bold denomination '25 Pfennig', while the central text panel states the issuer's identity, the town's character as a glass-industry and health resort at 720 metres above sea level, a validity clause, and a facsimile signature of the Gemeindevorstand.
