The denomination numeral '25' appears in each corner, while an intricate foliate border of oak-leaf scrollwork frames the entire composition. At the lower centre, a small oval vignette carries the Bernburg municipal arms, and a red serial number is printed across the upper portion of the note. |

The central field is occupied by a finely rendered letterpress vignette of Bernburg Castle (Schloss Bernburg), viewed across the Saale river, its multi-turreted Renaissance silhouette set against a light background within a recessed rectangular frame.
