| Vorderseitenbeschreibung | The note is printed by letterpress in a red and green colour scheme and organised into three vertical panels: the left panel carries a vignette of a Gothic church tower amid trees, the right panel a medieval round tower and castle ruins against a clouded sky, and the central panel the municipal coat of arms of Ziesar — a shield charged with a key on a red ground — flanked above by the issuer's name in bold Fraktur script and below by the denomination spelled out as 'Fünfundzwanzig Pfennig'. The numeral '25' appears in red within ornamental foliate cartouches at each upper corner of the central panel. Account designation 'Konto B' and a serial number occupy the lower corners, with the printer's imprint along the lower frame. |

Ziesar is a small town in Brandenburg, and like hundreds of German municipalities it resorted to Notgeld during the acute coin shortage that followed the First World War. The Städtische Sparkasse — the municipal savings bank — was a common issuing authority for this type of small-denomination emergency scrip, which circulated locally and was theoretically redeemable but in practice often collected rather than spent.
Flemming & Wiskott in Glogau were prolific Notgeld printers, handling commissions from municipalities across Prussia and Silesia. Designer credit to P. Geue is unusual enough to be worth noting — most Notgeld issues went to press without any named designer at all.
