Dassow is a small town on the Trave estuary in Mecklenburg, and its 1922 Notgeld issue is fairly typical of the municipal small-change notes that flooded Germany during the hyperinflationary spiral of the early Weimar period. What distinguishes designer Richard Zscheke's work across several Notgeld commissions is a consistent preference for regional folk motifs over the allegorical bombast favored by larger issuers — a deliberate localism that made these notes more legible to their intended users.
The DeNG reference covering three varieties (260.1–2/3) suggests minor printing or serial variants within the same issue run.
