| 正面铭文 | Gutschein der Stadt Wittenberg D. Nr. [serial number] Gültig bis 5. März 1922 Der Magistrat: (Translation: Voucher of the City of Wittenberg / D. No. [serial number] / Valid until 5 March 1922 / The Magistrate:) |
| 背面描述 | A large central vignette in grey-black and red tones illustrates the founding ceremony of the University of Wittenberg in the sacristy of the Stadtkirche in 1502, with robed figures gathered around a pulpit bearing a coat of arms, signed by the artist Christophe in the upper left corner. To the right, the denomination numeral '25' appears within an ornamental cartouche, and below it the city arms of Wittenberg are rendered in white on the grey ground. A descriptive caption in Roman type runs along the lower margin. |

| 备注 |
Wittenberg's 1922 notgeld issue belongs to the second wave of German municipal emergency money — the period when inflation was accelerating fast enough that even small-denomination coins had effectively vanished from daily use. Stadt Wittenberg, like hundreds of German towns, was left to fill the gap independently. The designer credit "Christophe" on the reverse is unusual and likely refers to a local commercial artist rather than a printing house; the obverse credit "BHD" remains unattributed in the standard notgeld literature.
Paper notgeld of this era deteriorates readily at folds — the 1922 issues especially, as wartime paper stock constraints had never fully resolved.
