Neubukow is a small market town in Mecklenburg, and its 1922 emergency issue belongs to the vast wave of municipal Notgeld produced across Germany as postwar inflation outpaced the Reichsbank's ability to supply small-denomination coinage. Towns, businesses, and district authorities printed their own stopgap notes by the thousands — Neubukow among the least prominent issuers in the series.
There is nothing technically unusual about this particular piece. Its collector interest rests almost entirely on local specificity: Neubukow issues appear rarely in general circulation lots, and the town produced a limited series rather than the elaborate multi-part sets some larger municipalities commissioned.
