Lobeda was still an independent municipality in 1921 — it wasn't absorbed into Jena until 1923. This note belongs to the broader Notgeld wave that swept Thuringia as postwar inflation rendered official small coinage functionally useless, forcing hundreds of German towns to print their own stopgap issues.
