Obverse description The obverse is set against a sage-green Art Nouveau underprint of scrolling foliate arabesques filling the entire field, with four small red diamond ornaments at the cardinal points of the border. A large central oval cartouche, framed by a black ruled border, carries the bold red numeral '25' in decorative script. Encircling the cartouche in cursive Fraktur script is the redemption clause noting acceptance by the Spar- und Darlehnskasse und Gemeindekasse Gnarrenburg. Two small signature boxes at lower left and lower right bear the manuscript signatures of the Gemeindevorsteher and two Gemeindevertreter respectively, with the printer's imprint running along the bottom margin.

Reverse description The reverse presents a sage-green Art Nouveau border with large red numerals '25' at each upper corner accompanied by the abbreviation 'Pf.' in matching red script. A framed two-line Low German verse in Fraktur occupies the upper register, below which a central oval vignette rendered in fine black letterpress illustrates the Gnarrenburger Torfwerke (peat works), showing a multi-storey timber industrial building beside a canal with flat-bottomed boats. A garland of stylised olive branches and red roses decorates the lower margin, with the issuer's name divided across the bottom corners.
