Opmerkingen

Oschersleben's 1921 notgeld issue was one of hundreds produced by German municipalities during the coin shortage that followed the First World War. Small-denomination paper substitutes like this filled the gap left by hoarded metal coinage — a chronic problem from 1916 onward that persisted well into the stabilization period. Faber of Magdeburg was a regional workhorse printer for Saxony-area notgeld, handling volume municipal contracts efficiently rather than producing the elaborate collector-targeted series that some towns commissioned purely for philatelic revenue.
