Opmerkingen

Quern is a small rural parish in Schleswig, the disputed border territory between Germany and Denmark that had just undergone its partition plebiscite in March 1920 — barely a year before this note was issued. The Gemeinde found itself on the German side of the new frontier, but the regional economy was disrupted enough that small-denomination Notgeld became a practical necessity. Heinrich Appel's press in nearby Süderbrarup produced Kleingeldersatz for several local authorities in the area during this period.

The 1091.2 reference designation indicates a second type within the Quern series, suggesting at least minor variation from an earlier issue.
