Opmerkingen

Tiefurt is a village on the Ilm river, today a suburb of Weimar, and its notgeld issue owes its existence almost entirely to that proximity. The Ilm Park at Tiefurt was a favored retreat of Goethe and the Weimar court, which made the municipality a minor but genuine piece of Weimar classicism geography — and in 1921, dozens of such communities exploited that cultural cachet to produce collector-targeted notgeld that barely circulated at all.

Wiedemannsche Druckerei in Saalfeld handled a substantial volume of Thuringian notgeld during this period. Designer credit to M. W. Schulz is specific enough to be useful but otherwise unattested in the major notgeld literature.
