Dieser Schein verliert seine Gültigkeit 1 Monat nach dem öffentlichen Aufruf durch den Gemeinderat Stammbach. 1. Sept. 1921 Bürgermeister
DRUCK VON J P HIMMER AUGSBURG
Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse is printed in ochre, teal, and dark brown, with a broad dark border surrounding an oval vignette wreathed in naturalistically rendered flowers and foliage in teal and ochre. Within the oval, a pastoral Jugendstil scene depicts a slender female figure in a blue dress with arms raised, standing beside a blossoming tree against a lightly hatched landscape background of rolling hills. The overall composition is characteristic of the artistic notgeld style popular in early 1920s Germany.

Opmerkingen

Stammbach is a small market town in Upper Franconia, Bavaria, and this 25 Pfennig note is a product of the Kleingeldersatz crisis that gripped Germany from roughly 1916 onward — metal coinage had been hoarded or melted, and municipalities were left to print their own small-denomination scrip to keep local commerce moving. By 1921 the inflationary pressure had intensified considerably, and Notgeld of this type was being produced by the thousands of German communities simultaneously.

J. P. Himmer in Augsburg was a well-established regional printer with nearly eight decades of experience by the time this note was commissioned, handling Notgeld contracts for numerous Bavarian municipalities during the period.
